"Walter"
I don’t consider myself a singer or a musician. I do consider myself a songwriter. When I write a song it’s like losing myself in a dream. I got my first guitar at age 12 and wrote my first song at age 17. I write songs that come from my heart, songs that mean something to me, songs with lots of emotion. I want you to feel what I feel when you hear the song. If you do then I’ve achieved my goal.
I’ve known Martin for most of my life. We have had our ups and downs but we are still friends, still playing together. We have been in bands together in various forms doing what we love “making music”.
In November 2009 we lived a dream and recorded our first CD. All the songs are original and reflect our journey through life. From “When the Sun Comes Up” which I wrote when I was just a kid to “Heroes” which is a tribute to our Canadian soldiers and to my father. From “Fathers and Grandfathers” whose lyrics were written by my beautiful wife, Jocelyn to “Mainsail” and “Spending This Moment” written with John Bower and Martin respectively. I am proud of each lyric, each note.
Martin has become an accomplished song writer since we formed “Seventeen” adding what I call the fun and quirky side to our music. I’m proud of our musical journey. Music truly is my oxygen. Our friendship is truly priceless.
I hope you enjoy our music. I thank our wives for their endless support of this project and as always “Keep the Faith”.

"Partly"
I have vivid memories of sitting at a youth group playing "Sounds of Silence" with JP.
That was many moons ago in my teens. At that time we had fantasies about making our own records and being stars.
Flip the calendar a few thousand pages and we've actually done it. Made a childhood dream come true in a way and at a time that none of us could have envisioned. Perhaps we're not stars in the sense we dreamed about, but we're making music...and performing...and making records!! Whodathunkit?
I can't decide which is more amazing. Our friendship lasting all these years, that we're still making music after all these years, or having that music on a CD.
Back those many years ago, I never figured I could ever write music - but with encouragement, I've actually written lyric and tune and there they are on that CD.
And the pure enjoyment I get out of playing the music. New music from the prolific talent of JP, or one of his older tunes that stands up so well after many years. Or the classic tunes. Or hearing my own few compositions performed so well.
Seventeen & Change. With my friend, my brother, my band-mate.
It's been a helluva journey. And FUN!
...and the journey is only beginning!
